Know your impact

The Engagement Survey is more than just an assessment tool. It gives educators and school leaders evidence of their impact. This means you have the best possible information about where to go next in both the teaching process and in school improvement planning. The Engagement Survey measures areas like social-emotional learning, physical health and well-being, student engagement, and other outcomes related to academic success. In order to ensure validity and reliability, each question in the survey relates to one or more measure, allowing school leaders to understand different aspects of the same underlying theme. The Engagement Survey is completely anonymous, protecting student privacy and ensuring the most accurate and authentic survey responses.

More than just an online survey

The OurSCHOOL Survey is a powerful evaluation tool that provides a total solution for measuring, assessing, and reporting insights on your school both during the year as well as year over year. It helps you to set quantifiable goals, track progress, and share your success with your school community.

The majority of students can complete this survey in 40 - 45 minutes.

Each Survey License comes with the support of our newly formed Engagement Team, which combines extensive classroom teaching and school leadership experience with deep knowledge of the research and analysis underpinning OurSCHOOL. With their combined knowledge and experience they can support schools to use perception data as evidence to impact school growth. The Engagement Team can help you prepare for the survey as well as debrief and analyze your survey results.

Before the survey

  • Help to determine how OurSCHOOL survey measures support specific school and division goals, allowing you to set baselines and targets while monitoring your impact on student outcomes,

  • Assist you in selecting measures to gather the most meaningful evidence to target interventions and focus your resources and efforts,

  • Create new custom questions that are actionable and capture evidence unique to your school community, and

  • Offer suggestions on existing custom questions to demonstrate how drill-downs can capture the best possible data.

After the survey

  • A one-on-one phone call or screen share to review your results and interpret what they mean, or

  • NEW! A Data Deep Dive interactive session, a workshop designed to help your school coordinators and teams:

    • understand and interpret data and reports,

    • illuminate areas to celebrate and investigate further, and

    • learn ways to share results with your school community.

Support can be as simple as a phone call or as in-depth as an interactive workshop. We are always available to help make sense of it all. Reach us by email at store@thelearningbar.com asking for the OurSCHOOL team.

  • OurSCHOOL Student Surveys offers the largest normed dataset of student perception data in the world. National and local norms offer a benchmark for growth and comparison. Knowing where your data sits in the bigger picture allows you to really see which areas you can celebrate, and which areas you can target for improvement.

  • Privacy: The OurSCHOOL Student Engagement Survey is 100% anonymous in order to protect student privacy and ensure that students feel comfortable sharing their thoughts on a variety of topics.

  • Customize: Ability to add multiple choice and open-ended questions in order to customize the survey to meet the needs of your school.

  • Replica School: Many administrators have told us that they wish they could compare their data with a school made up of students with similar socio-economic backgrounds as their own. The unique Replica School feature provides such a comparison, making it possible to fairly compare results with a virtual school that has the same student composition as yours.

  • Interactive Charts: Our dynamic charts allow busy administrators to segment data by sub-populations like grade, gender, language spoken at home, or your own criteria.

  • One-Click Report: Our easy to read one-click reports give an overview of each measure in a single report. This dynamically generated PDF report ensures that you are only ever ‘one click away’ from up-to-date, accurate information on what’s going on in your school. A quick glance at each measure makes it easy to spot patterns or anomalies.

  • Thematic Reports: Our thematic report is designed with sharing in mind. You can easily share your results with stakeholders in your school community. These reports highlight the unique story your data is telling in an easy to read, accessible package.

Student engagement is a disposition towards learning, working with others, and functioning in a social institution. This survey presents a summary of your school's engagement levels, key demographic breakdowns, and advice to school staff about what can be done to make a difference in your students' psychological investment in learning.

OurSCHOOL surveys measure the factors that are proven to have a direct and profound impact on student learning and well-being.  All measures are grounded in leading-edge research and are rigorously tested to ensure statistical reliability and validity.
