The OurSCHOOL Parent Survey helps educators and school leaders gather actionable insight while engaging parents and guardians, creating a healthy school community for all stakeholders. The OurSCHOOL Parent Survey helps strengthen the relationships between school staff and parents, and is available as a stand-alone product, useful in its own right, or as a perfect compliment to the OurSCHOOL Student Survey for maximum insight.

Each license allows you to survey up to two times during the 2019-20 school year with up to 2,500 participants per survey.

The OurSCHOOL Parent Survey helps educators and school leaders gather meaningful feedback while engaging parents and guardians. Parental involvement is a known factor to increase positive learning outcomes, and a critical part of building a healthy school culture where students can thrive. The OurSCHOOL Parent Survey helps strengthen the relationships between school staff and parents, giving school leaders insight into parents’ perceptions of the school's support for learning, positive behaviours, and the promotion of safety and inclusion.

Know Your Impact

The Parent Survey ensures educators and school leaders have evidence of their impact as perceived by parents and guardians. This means you have the best possible information about where to go next in both the teaching process and in school improvement planning, all while making parents and guardians valued stakeholders in the school community. The survey covers topics such as if parents feel welcome, how information is shared, and perceptions of inclusivity, bullying and school safety. The Parent Survey is completely anonymous, protecting parent privacy and ensuring the most accurate and authentic survey responses.

More than just an online survey

The OurSCHOOL Parent Survey is available either as a stand-alone product, useful in its own right in order to engage parents and guardians, or as a perfect complement to the OurSCHOOL Student or Teacher Surveys. The OurSCHOOL Survey is a powerful evaluation tool that provides a total solution for measuring, assessing, and reporting insights on your school and community both during the year as well as year over year. It helps you set quantifiable goals, track progress, and share your success with your school community.

The majority of parents can complete this survey in 15 - 20 minutes.

Each Survey License comes with the support of our newly formed Engagement Team, which combines extensive classroom teaching and school leadership experience with deep knowledge of the research and analysis underpinning OurSCHOOL. With their combined knowledge and experience they can support schools to use perception data as evidence to impact school growth. The Engagement Team can help you prepare for the survey as well as debrief and analyze your survey results.

Before the survey

  • Help to determine how OurSCHOOL survey measures support specific school and division goals, allowing you to set baselines and targets while monitoring your impact on student outcomes,

  • Assist you in selecting measures to gather the most meaningful evidence to target interventions and focus your resources and efforts,

  • Create new custom questions that are actionable and capture evidence unique to your school community, and

  • Offer suggestions on existing custom questions to demonstrate how drill-downs can capture the best possible data.

After the survey

  • A one-on-one phone call or screen share to review your results and interpret what they mean, or

  • NEW! A Data Deep Dive interactive session, a workshop designed to help your school coordinators and teams:

    • understand and interpret data and reports,

    • illuminate areas to celebrate and investigate further, and

    • learn ways to share results with your school community.

Support can be as simple as a phone call or as in-depth as an interactive workshop. We are always available to help make sense of it all. Reach us by email at store@thelearningbar.com asking for the OurSCHOOL team.

Parent Survey

The OurSCHOOL Parent Survey is based primarily on Joyce Epstein's framework for fostering positive relationships between schools and their community of parents and guardians. Successful schools establish effective communication with their community, encourage involvement in their child's schoolwork, and enlist their school community to volunteer in activities and participate in committees. This survey assesses parent and guardians' perceptions of their children's learning experiences both at home and at school.

The PARENT survey covers the following measures:

  • Parents feel welcome
  • Parents are informed
  • Parents support learning at home
  • Time spent doing homework
  • Parent Participation
  • School supports learning
  • School support positive behaviour
  • School is inclusive
  • School is safe
  • Bullying & Exclusion
