Each course is grounded in key evidence from the academic research, linked to proven and practical classroom pedagogy, and connected to leading-edge educational policy, assessment, and governance strategies.
This course is about the science of teaching. It has two main aims. First, it provides a structure for teaching, learning, and assessment that can be used to organize the curricular goals of any school subject. It shows how the elements of this structure relate to classroom instructional activities that improve student learning and reduce inequalities. Teachers can build their repertoire of effective teaching strategies based on recent research from the National Science Foundation about how people learn. Second, the course summarizes the research on effective classroom management and how this research is related to twelve key strategies for creating an inclusive learning environment.
